Smart Wearable Launched to Combat Chronic Pain
Healthcare company NeuroMetrix has launched an updated version of its smart wearable to address chronic pain.
Quell Wearable Pain Relief
Quell 2.0 comes with artificial intelligence, coaching and a new therapy option in order to provide personalized pain relief.
The device is said to use prescription strength nerve-stimulation technology to block chronic pain. It is worn on the leg, regardless of where the pain is, and sends neural pulses to the brain that trigger a pain relief response in the central nervous system.
Shai N. Gozani, president and CEO of NeuroMetrix said: “Since first launching Quell in 2015, over 100,000 individuals living with chronic pain have experienced its patented neurotechnology. The Quell 2.0 device and the new features and technology we are unveiling at CES area direct result of customer feedback and our latest research. Quell has been designed to offer a long-term solution for chronic pain suffers seeking non-pharmacological pain relief options.”
As part of its upgrade the Therapy Coach combines goal setting, feedback, educational content, and motivational messages. Also, the device is designed to personalise therapy to individual needs and track progress including measurable outcomes of success such as pain levels and changes in sleep and gait by using the accelerometer in the device.
It is also designed to adapt to manual intensity changes, body position and sleep movements – and can also adapt to changes in weather should it be a factor in the user’s pain level.
