Quell 2.0 Introduces A Smarter Way For Pain Relief
There are several ways that one can go about dealing with chronic pain. In some cases, a ointment or a rub gets the job done. Sometimes soaking the area in warm water can also help, and in some cases when these methods aren’t good enough, that’s where medication can come in.
The danger to that is the one can eventually get dependent on these medications, or one’s body can build up a resistance or immunity even. That’s where NeuroMetrix comes in. The company has debuted the Quell 2.0 which is a device designed to provide a smarter way for pain relief by relying on technologies like artificial intelligence (AI).
Quell 2.0 builds upon the success of its predecessor, but now comes in at 50% smaller but yet 20% more powerful, meaning that it will be less obtrusive but at the same time potentially more effective. The device works by using electrical nerve stimulation and is worn on the leg, regardless of where the pain site might be. It will then send neural pulses to the brain to trigger a more natural pain relief response in the central nervous system.
The use of AI means that the device can learn and pull data from the millions of data points from tens of thousands of users part of the Quell Healthcloud, thus being able to deliver a more personalized and hopefully more effective treatments. There will also be an accompanying smartphone app that offers a Therapy Coach that can let users set goals, provide real-time feedback, motivational messages, and more.
